VT-8029 MOTION SENSOR
VT-8029 MOTION SENSOR – Recessed 360° PIR Ceiling Sensor
The VT-8029 MOTION SENSOR (manufactured by V-TAC under SKU 5090 / 23679) is a flush-mount Passive Infrared (PIR) ceiling sensor designed for automated indoor lighting control. Engineered to capture heat signatures without emitting radiation, this recessed motion sensor provides 360° detection coverage, automatically switching attached lighting circuits ON when movement is detected and turning them OFF after a customizable delay.
Featuring a durable polycarbonate (PC) body with integrated spring clips, the VT-8029 MOTION SENSOR installs directly into ceiling cutouts (60–62 mm diameter) for a clean, low-profile finish. The sensor operates across an input voltage of 220–240 V AC and supports up to 300 W for modern LED luminaires or up to 1200 W for traditional incandescent loads.
As illustrated in the product image, the device features a circular white front bezel with a domed Fresnel lens, rear-mounted spring retention arms, and side-mounted trimmer dials (TIME and LUX) for precise field calibration.
Key Features of the VT-8029 MOTION SENSOR
-
360° PIR Detection Zone: Equipped with a high-sensitivity infrared receptor array offering a full 360° cone of detection up to a 6-meter radius.
-
Adjustable Ambient Light (LUX): Integrated ambient light sensor allows setting triggering thresholds from 3 LUX (night-only operation) to 2000 LUX (daylight and night operation).
-
Customizable Time Delay: Features an adjustable timer dial to set off-delay duration from a minimum of 10 seconds (pm 3 seconds) to a maximum of 15 minutes (pm 2 minutes).
-
High Load Capacity: Compatible with up to 300 W LED lighting loads or up to 1200 W incandescent / traditional halogen lighting circuits.
-
Flush-Mount Recessed Design: Built with spring-loaded retaining clips for quick, tool-free mounting into drywall or suspended ceiling tiles.
-
Continuous Triggering Function: Automatically resets the delay timer if secondary motion is detected before the cycle completes, preventing unexpected light shutoffs.
Common Applications and Practical Usage
The energy-saving design and wide coverage angle of the VT-8029 MOTION SENSOR make it ideal for commercial, residential, and office environments:
-
Hallways & Stairwells: Ensures automatic illumination along transit routes when occupants enter, switching off when areas are vacant to reduce energy waste.
-
Restrooms & Utility Rooms: Eliminates the need for manual wall switch contact, supporting hygienic hands-free operation.
-
Offices & Conference Rooms: Provides automated light switching based on room occupancy and ambient daylight conditions.
-
Storage Areas & Garages: Keeps lighting active while staff load or unload supplies without requiring manual switch toggling.

Operating Guidelines and Best Practices
INSTALLATION TIP: Cut a 60–62 mm diameter opening in the ceiling tile. Fold the metal spring clips upward, push the sensor body through the opening, and release the springs to clamp the unit securely into place.
Sensor Placement: Avoid pointing the lens toward reflective surfaces (mirrors) or near strong heat sources like air conditioner vents or heating radiators, which can cause false triggers.
Daylight Calibration: To test sensor operation during daylight hours, rotate the LUX trimmer clockwise to the “SUN” position.
